In the wake of Prince's death I'm learning quite a bit about the singer so many loved intensely. Turns out that while I was being raised on Bach and showtunes, you all were infinitely cooler and rocking out to Purple Rain. So while I was, of course, sad to hear of Prince's passing on Thursday, the news didn't immediately hit me particularly hard.
She and Prince married on Valentine’s Day in 1996, and almost immediately she became pregnant. Their son, Boy Gregory, died just a week after birth due to Pfeiffer syndrome, which is a rare defect of the skull.
Mayte says that the loss, followed by a miscarriage shortly afterwards, tore them apart.
"To lose two babies is really scary... it really caught on me emotionally, physically, everything," she said in 2015. "It took me at least 15 years to get over it and still, to this day, I miss my son.
She continued, "I loved him then, I love him now and will love him eternally. He's with our son now."
Our condolences go out to those who loved Prince, from family members to fans far and wide.
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan revealed that they had been trying for years to have a baby, suffering three miscarriages before conceiving daughter Max, who was born in November 2015.
"You feel hopeful when you learn you’re going to have a child," he explained. "You start imagining who they’ll become and dreaming of hopes for the future. You start making plans and then they’re gone. It’s a lonely experience. Most people don’t discuss miscarriages because you worry your problems will distance you, or reflect upon you – as if you’re defective or you did something to cause this. Nicole Kidman said of her fertility troubles in 2012, "I had tried and failed and failed and failed. Not to be too detailed, but I’ve had an ectopic pregnancy, miscarriages and I’ve had fertility treatments. I’ve done all the stuff you can possibly do to try get pregnant." The actress is mom to adopted children Connor and Bella, daughter Sunday Rose, who she gave birth to, and daughter Faith Margaret, who was born via surrogate. (INF)

While undergoing IVF treatments that eventually led to the birth of twins Nelson and Eddy in 2010, singer Celine Dion shared openly, "They said that I was pregnant, and a couple of days after, we were not pregnant again. In late 2010, journalist Lisa Ling revealed she had suffered a miscarriage earlier in the year. "We actually [hadn't] been trying that long," she said during an appearance on The View. "I don't know that I took it as seriously as I should have because [the pregnancy] happened so fast. Hugh Jackman and his wife Deborra Lee Furness have been open about their struggles to conceive. In 2012, the actor said: "It’s interesting — until you go through it, you realize it’s not talked about a lot... We did IVF and Deb had a couple of miscarriages. And it was actually, I’ll never forget it — the miscarriage thing is also — apparently it happens to one in three pregnancies. But it’s very rarely talked about. It’s almost secretive, you know?"
