posted in CelebritiesShonda Rhimes is looking incredible these days, thanks to shedding an astounding amount of weight. The 45-year-old television producer and writer, whose work you may have watched on shows like Grey's Anatomy or Scandal, is celebrating losing a jaw-dropping 100 pounds!
A look at the talented creator's appearance on Ellen:
Check out these side-by-side photos of Shonda Rhimes' weight loss. On the left she's pictured with Betsy Beers in January 2014, and on the right she's in the company of Viola Davis and Ellen Pompeo, in a photo taken in September 2015:
One specific moment led to this famous mom deciding it was time to make a change. Recalling how she struggled to secure her seatbelt on a flight she shared, "I got in my seat, and I went to buckle the seat belt and it wouldn’t buckle. But it wasn’t the seat belt; it was me."
Explaining how working through issues such as anxiety and public speaking put her on a healthier path, Shonda told Ellen, "The more fears I conquered, the more I thought I could do that [lose weight] too. So yeah, I lost weight."
Three little ones get the most credit for inspiring Shonda to improve her health. The woman who adopted in 2002 and 2012, as well as welcomed a child via gestational surrogacy in 2013, added, "I have a 3-year-old and a 13-year-old and a 2-year-old, and I wanted to be around for them, be healthy."
Isn't Shonda's accomplishment impressive? For both facing her fears and improving her health I offer her congratulations!
I have personally managed to lose close to 20 pounds a few times, but then it seems to creep right back up. Like Shonda though, my health and my kids are increasingly on my mind. At 34 I don't feel old, but the fact is I'm not getting any younger. Guess there's no time like today to begin to try, try again.
If anyone reading is interested, I do an annual challenge to complete 100 miles between Thanksgiving and New Year's Eve, called Merry Miles. How you go about getting the mileage in (running, walking, biking, etc.) is up to you.
I believe this will be my fourth year tallying things up, and the second year I've hosted a little Facebook group for folks to share their progress in. You're welcome to join if you'd like!
