Katy Perry: "I don't need a dude" to become a mom

by

Katy Perry is downright determined to have a child someday, regardless of her relationship status.

"I want to be doing that in the right time," the singer, who split from husband Russell Brand in late 2011 explained to Rolling Stone when asked about having a baby someday.

"And that's not in the next two years, you know? Maybe it's in a five-year plan, but I need to really be able to focus 100 percent of my attention on it. I don't really want to take the child on tour. Not until, like, birth through five is over."

Katy Perry baby plans Katy Perry: I dont need a dude to become a mom

In an article about the 29-year-old woman who was once deemed too hot for Sesame Street , Rolling Stone goes on to share:

And there doesn't necessarily have to be a man in the picture, she adds, mentioning her friends Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka. "I don't need a dude. I mean, Neil and David, their twins are beautiful. It's 2014! We are living in the future; we don't need anything. I don't think I'll have to, but we'll see. I'm not anti-men. I love men. But there is an option if someone doesn't present himself."

Now I'm not quite sure what Harper and Gideon's parents have to do with not needing a partner, because Neil and David were together for six years before becoming parents, but nonetheless I like what Katy Perry is saying.

I haven't personally been in her position but I don't see anything wrong with a person choosing to become a parent on their own. It takes so much conscious thought and effort to do so that I doubt anyone goes into lightly. What's not to like about an adult who thoroughly thinks parenthood through and decides they're up for the challenge and responsibility?

It's 2014! Do you agree it's time to embrace single parenthood by choice?

Hot mama! See Dita Von Teese's sexy postpartum lingerie line!

Motherhood can be sexy, too... right?

Burlesque star Dita Von Teese has teamed with Destination Maternity to launch a collection of lacy lingerie geared toward new moms. It may seem an unlikely match, but the ultra glam star argues that new moms deserve to feel special, too.

“I believe that lingerie can and should be glamorous and functional," Dita explains. "Elegant underpinnings are a simple way to create everyday moments of luxury and beauty, and why wouldn’t a new mother enjoy beautiful lingerie, too?”

The Von Follies postpartum line, which retails for $30 to $49, features seven sultry pieces, from nursing bras to tummy-shaping underwear. Take a look...

I think they're absolutely gorgeous. Let's be honest, though: My body after babies doesn't look a thing like Dita Von Teese's jaw-dropping figure. I'm probably not going to pass for a pin-up star no matter what I wear.

That being said, new motherhood is about as far from glamorous as it gets. Most of those early days are spent in over-sized sweats with spit-up in our hair and baby poop under our fingernails. If ditching that big, beige nursing bra in favor of a lacy, barely there one gives you a lift, I say go for it.

Dita's right: We all deserve a little bit of luxury.

Did you still love lingerie, or have you embraced granny panties post-baby?

Breaking baby news: Alicia Keys and her husband Swizz Beatz are expecting their second child together!

The 'Fallin'' songstress took to Instagram tonight to make the big announcement, writing, "Happy Anniversary to the love of my life @therealswizzz!! And to make it even sweeter we've been blessed with another angel on the way!! You make me happier than I have ever known! Here's to many many more years of the best parts of life!"

The baby on the way will join big brother Egypt, who will be 3 in October, as well as Prince, Kasseem and Nicole, Swizz's children from previous relationships.

While many moms may have some serious anxiety at the thought of giving birth, Alicia is likely looking forward to going through it for a second time. The 33-year-old Grammy-winner has said that she "really enjoyed" childbirth - pain and all.

“I like to speak about it very positively because I don’t like to scare people…. But I followed this particular technique which banishes negative thoughts. So instead of calling it a contraction, it’s a surge. And I think words like that are pretty powerful,” Alicia says. “So it hurt, but I think I received it a little better and I can say I really enjoyed it. It’s not like anything I’ve ever done and I think it’ll be better the second time. It must be. But as everyone says, it was worth it. It was bliss and a real miracle to be part of… And I really believe that (a) new day started the day Egypt came into this world.”

Fans of 'The Voice' may soon get to catch a glimpse of Alicia's growing baby bump - she'll be appearing on the reality show as an adviser to her friend Pharrell Williams' team this fall.

You won't believe what David Tutera's twins have never done

by

Sara McGinnis

posted in Celebrities

One full year after David Tutera and ex-husband Ryan Jurica welcomed twins their unique family situation hasn't much improved.

The duo, who decided to divorce after nine years of marriage while their surrogate was pregnant, have each been raising the child they are biologically related to on their own. David, whom you may know from My Fair Wedding, is caring for daughter Cielo while living in Los Angeles and Ryan is raising son Cedric in Connecticut.

The two -- who shared a womb and are fraternal twins -- have never met.

David Tutera twins You wont believe what David Tuteras twins have never done

The CELEBrations host recently told TMZ, "My daughter is amazing, she just turned 13 months and is doing fantastic...As far as Ryan's biological son, I can't tell you because we're not in contact. The children don't see each other."

When asked if he wants his daughter to meet Ryan's son, the 48 year old replied, "I would love my daughter to meet his son...but who knows what tomorrow is going to bring.

Check out a clip, which includes photos of both Cielo and Cedric:

I felt sad for the babies when I first heard about David and Ryan's decision to separate them, because siblings are such an important part of growing up and the bond between twins has always fascinated me. It didn't occur to me until just now, however, that these kids would go an entire year without ever seeing each other.

Parenting in general is hard, and from everything I've seen, read and heard parenting with an ex is even tougher. To me though, that doesn't mean you get to just pretend you son or daughter's sibling just doesn't exist. And what about each dad's bond with the other child? These kids were intentionally conceived with both dads planning to parent both babies -- and now each is skipping out on one of the children. Cielo is missing out on knowing Ryan, and Cedric on bonding with David.

Lately it seems complicated surrogacy and sperm donor cases have been making headlines with increasing frequency. It's hard to know what to think some of the time, but in this particular case I get the feeling the parents aren't truly putting the kids first. In my humble opinion, a child shouldn't grow up with their twin being a total stranger.

What do you think of Tutera's twins being raised completely separately? Is it OK to separate siblings in general?

Maya Rudolph's unusual baby name has a sentimental side

by

Carolyn Robertson

posted in Celebrities

She kept it under wraps for almost a year, but we finally know the name that Maya Rudolph and her partner Paul Thomas Anderson picked for baby #4.

TMZ reports that the funny mom chose a name close to her heart for the baby girl who arrived last August: Minnie Ida Anderson. The name Minnie may conjure up images of a certain polka-dot loving Disney character for most of us, but it holds a more sentimental meaning for Maya. She named her daughter after her own mother, singer Minnie Riperton.

The family's newest addition joins older siblings Pearl, 8, Lucille, 4, and Jack, 3.

Did you name your little one after a family member, too?

Little Minnie was born at home, as were Maya's second and third children. The 42-year-old 'Saturday Night Live' alum has revealed, however, that she is actually an accidental home birth advocate.

Speaking of Lucille's speedy arrival, she said, “[A homebirth] was not my plan, but that’s what happened … because the baby came out really fast. Luckily, she just kind of glided into her father’s arms... It was scary, but it was kind of awesome. Hospitals make me nervous because I feel like hospital equals death, like it smells like dead people and weird fluids that pickle people.”

With baby rumors reaching fever pitch, actress Zoe Saldana seems determined to let her growing bump do the talking for her.

The Guardians of the Galaxy stunner doesn't seem shy about showing off her new curves. She chose a figure-fitting white sheath for this morning's visit to the New York Stock Exchange, and a similarly revealing wine-hued dress to an appearance on Good Morning America yesterday.

Zoe Saldana pregnant baby REX USA Photos: Zoe Saldana lets her bump do the talking

So now that those pregnancy rumors seem all but confirmed, what does Zoe have to say about the baby on the way? Well... nothing. The 36-year-old star seems intent on keeping mum on the big news. She offered up no details during her GMA interview, and the fact that they didn't ask makes me think they were probably told not to.

In fact, Zoe recently took to Twitter to lash lashed out at media outlets who have been reporting on her rumored pregnancy.

I definitely think a woman reserves the right to spill her baby news how and when she chooses. That being said, when you reach the point in the pregnancy where it becomes impossible to hide, what's the point of keeping quiet?

Perhaps Zoe, who married artist Marco Perego last year, is a bit less inclined to share because she's wary of her every ultrasound and belly kick being tracked and reported on by the tabloids. Privacy is probably a precious commodity for Hollywood moms-to-be.

Personally, when I found out I was expecting, I just couldn't keep the news quiet. I thought about waiting until I was out of my first trimester, but could barely hold out for three days never mind three months!

Jenny McCarthy's son called 911 on her more than once

by

Sara McGinnis

posted in Celebrities

Jenny McCarthy may be having second thoughts about teaching her son Evan how to call the police. The cohost of The View, who has opened up about her 12-year-old's bullying problem and sex talk issues, is now sharing about how he's unafraid of calling 911.

The engaged star explained during her Dirty, Sexy, Funny show Sirius XM that one time when she was texting and driving her son witnessed her actions and called for help on his own cell phone to report her.

RadarOnline reports she recalled he told the police, "My mom is texting and driving right now."

Jenny McCarthy went on to say that in order to thwart his efforts to turn her in she threw his phone out the window.

Jenny McCarthy son Jenny McCarthys son called 911 on her more than once

Then there was the time she tried to sneak out of the house for a cigarette, and Evan noticed she was gone.

"He called 911 and said. 'I am alone in the house. My mom abandoned me,'" Jenny went on to say. "I go back in the house and it’s 911 and they’re like, ‘Your child just called. Is there an emergency?’ I’m like, ‘What? No! Everything is fine.'"

Sounds to me like someone needs another chat about what is a 911-appropriate call and what isn't, although because of Evan's autism issues it might be quite hard to get the nuances across. The texting thing is clearly not an emergency, but noticing your mom is missing is more of a gray area.

Just recently I bought our two boys a TracFrone with prepaid minutes because we don't have a home phone. On the off chance I do keel over or who knows what else, I don't want them having to search the house for my iPhone, which quite frankly I can't even find some days.

Along with teaching my 9 and 8 year old sons how to use the phone,we reviewed calling 911, knowing our address, and -- I think this is one that gets overlooked -- that they can take the phone to our family meeting spot (the neighbors yard) and call from there if the house isn't safe. I'm not willing to take any chances that the common sense to flee the burning house and then make the call is going to pop into their heads without it being spelled out.

What do you think of Jenny McCarthy's son calling 911? Have your kids ever? How did you teach them what to call for and what not to?

Alyssa Milano: How she predicted her baby's gender

by

Carolyn Robertson

posted in Celebrities

With baby #2 on the way, actress Alyssa Milano and her husband Dave Bugliari decided they wanted to find out the gender in advance. When they got the big news - it's a girl! - the 'Mistresses' star wasn't surprised at all.

Alyssa, whose son Milo turns 3 in August, tells Fit Pregnancy magazine how she knew she had a daughter on the way, explaining, “I had morning sickness this time, but it went away right at 12 weeks. With Milo, I didn’t have a minute of morning sickness. So I knew it was going to be a girl.”

She gained 55 pounds during her first pregnancy, but Alyssa couldn't tell you how much baby weight she's carrying so far this time around - because she doesn't even know! The stunning star says she refuses to track the pregnancy pounds.

IHA 017543 433x650 Alyssa Milano: How she predicted her babys gender

“We don’t get hungry when we’re pregnant for no reason,” she reasons. “You’re making a skeletal system. You’re making organs. I refuse to look at the scale. I didn’t look at the scale with Milo until the day I gave birth. It’s funny, my file was open at my appointment yesterday and there was a big Post-it note that said, ‘She does not want to know her weight.'”

The former child star says that the experience of pregnancy has taught her some important lessons - ones that she will eventually be able to pass on to her own daughter.

“A female body is not made to look good in a bikini. It’s made to give birth and have a baby and be a cozy companion for it afterward. And for my body, that meant putting on a lot of weight. I didn’t indulge in fast food or junk food, so I knew it was a healthy weight. I just realized: This is what my body needs to do to have a healthy baby.”

Alyssa's healthy body image conviction was sadly put to the test last year when comedian Jay Mohr publicly poked fun at her post-pregnancy curves during a radio interview. The soon-to-be mom-of-two took to Twitter to issue a classy and memorable response, writing, "So sorry you felt the need to publicly fat-shame me. Be well and God Bless. Please send my love to your beautiful wife."

Well said! As for predicting she was having a girl, I definitely lack those powers of maternal insight. I could have sworn I was having a boy the first time around. Talk about a delivery room surprise!

Lily Allen's weight loss plan sounds absolutely fantastic

After a couple of heartbreaking years struggling with health issues and loss, Lily Allen is rocking life.

The mother of Ethel and Marnie Cooper, who married builder Sam Cooper in 2011, recently told 2day FM, "I still don't feel worthy of my husband, he's an amazing person and I'm very lucky to even have contact with someone like that - never mind get married and have children."

"I had no intention of coming back when I did take the time out," the 29-year-old singer went on to share while talking about giving up stay-at-home-mom life I just thought I'm going to be such a great mum. I'm going to be puréeing vegetables all of the time and being really patient and building Lego.

"I was yearning for something and I didn't know what it was and it wasn't until my husband said, 'Maybe you need to write again! You need to have that form of expression.'I tried it and it actually worked. It made me feel better. I thought maybe it would start manifesting itself in potato painting or something."

Lily Allen weight loss diet Lily Allens weight loss plan sounds absolutely fantastic

Speaking of potatoes, Lily Allen has found weight loss success on a highly unusual diet.

"I just eat a lot of crisps, I'm not really eating a lot of proper meals [while on tour]," the slim star explained of her potato-chip habit.

"Only when I'm able to get to a restaurant. I think it’s touring and dancing and probably, you know, the not wanting to eat room service thing. I don't really like food being mass produced, you look at those kitchens and they're huge just I don't like it."

Now I'm not quite sure how this mom of two reasons that her chips aren't produced in bulk, but I wish we could all find success like she has. To eat what you like, dance like crazy, pursue your passions and shed those stubborn post-baby pounds sounds absolutely fantastic.

Personally, I'm still working out a few things when it comes to getting fit, but I have a strong feeling Lily Allen being happy in her personal life and finding a balance that works for her family with career is the real magic ingredient.

Where's the most memorable place you've ever breastfed your baby? The Voice star Gwen Stefani likely won't forget the day she nursed her son Apollo on the side of the road in the midst of the majestic Swiss Alps.

The mom-of-three shared a gorgeous shot of her mommy moment on Instagram this week. The photo, captioned "#Switzerland!!!," shows Gwen mid-road trip, taking in the stunning views as she sits barefoot in jeans and a white T-shirt with her baby boy at her breast. All we can see of 4-month-old Apollo, is a tiny hand poking out from under his star-spangled blanket. (See it here!)

Gwen, who is also mom to boys Kingston, 8, and Zuma, 5, has been vocal about her love of breastfeeding in the past. Back in 2009, the No Doubt star admitted feeling heartbroken when her middle son weaned at the age of 1: “I didn’t want him to (quit), it felt like a total rejection," she said. "It was really hormonal, and trying to stop in the middle of the tour was insane.”

The singer's latest nursing snapshot earned her rave reviews from other moms. Here's a sample of the comments: "Beautiful picture! Thanks for sharing @gwenstefani #boobsfeedbabies," wrote one, while others added, "Yay to boobie milk" and "Adorable... mother & child bond."

The message posted Friday continued, "9 doctors until Dr. Randy Harris diagnosed me & saved my life from a severe ectopic, 5 miscarriages, 5 rounds of IVF, 26 IUI's, most with no outcome, 4½ years of trying to conceive, 26 hours of brutal labor, early delivery b/c of sudden preeclampsia, tearing and tearing after the stitches were in once I was home, milk supply issues, painful mastitis, uncontrollable crying while breast feeding, worked until the day before I [gave] birth and went back after 6 weeks after because I was afraid of letting others down."

Many have written back to the 35-year-old actress and shared their own stories of infertility and loss, while many others have simply written, "Thank you for sharing."

It's heartbreaking to me to read Jaime's story or anyone else's, to be given an unprecedented glimpse into years of personal struggle and pain, but also in some small way heartwarming to see the conversations happening. No one should be forced to share their story before they're ready, but I hope that whenever anyone from a famous actress to a regular gal feels they want to that they'll receive support.

Megan Fox's gross "that's how you know" mom moment

by

In embracing motherhood, Megan Fox has had to let go of her germaphobe ways. The mother of two has opened up about how having 22-month-old Noah and 6-month-old Bodhi to care for has truly changed her world -- and that new scent she's rocking.

"I was holding Bodhi, and Noah was running around. I was trying to manage both of them because my husband [Brian Austin Green] wasn't feeling well," the actress recently recalled to The Stir . "My sister was with me, and we were talking. We were having some sort of theological discussion and Bodhi peed through his diaper and onto me."

"I was so exhausted that I didn't even bother looking for a wipe to clean me up. I just checked his clothes to make sure they weren't wet and they weren't. I was soaking wet, but I just let it air-dry. That's how you know you have so many children that you just -- I was too tired to be bothered with cleaning up my clothes or even my hands. I was just like eh, f--k it."

Megan Fox kids motherhood Megan Foxs gross thats how you know mom moment

Megan Fox continued, "That's sort of one of those moments when you realize how much your life has changed -- especially for me because, once upon a time, I was a germaphobe! The idea of that would have like sent me hiding under the covers. Now I just embrace it and wear it, and it is what it is."

I have so been there, and done that.

The thing is, when you're in your pre-parenthood years, the idea of having pee on you is as disgusting as it ought to be, but once you're in the trenches you realize baby pee is a different classification from other pee. Am I right?

I won't argue that it's not still a little gross, but somehow, in parent's exhausted mind, there becomes a distinction that it's not as bad. Hopefully it's not just me who thought that, because that's be a little embarrassing, but at the very least I know Megan Fox gets it.

Time to confess: Have you worn baby pee too?
