Anna Paquin would like it to be known once and for all that we shouldn't read too much into a woman's wardrobe choices. The mother of twins Poppy and Charlie recently took to Twitter to vent her frustrations, after comments came in about how she looked at the premiere of The Good Dinosaur.

Check out what the wife of Stephen Moyer shared on social media:

Anna Paquin pregnancy gossip

When one follower replied, "@AnnaPaquin wait who said what about what??? Are they blind!! Ah who cares, you're stunning..." the actress responded, "someone who was upset left my skintight hooker gear at home for my @TheGoodDinosaur premier... ya know a FAMILY film ...."

I'm going to have to go ahead and agree with Anna's Twitter followers, because I think she looks fantastic (and wonderfully appropriate)! I've always envied pristine, pale skin just a bit.

While I am on board with what Anna's saying, and as a general rule see no reason to comment (other than vaguely and favorably) on someone else's appearance, I have a time or two found myself in pretty awkward situations. One that comes to mind was running into one of my neighbors a few years ago, after we hadn't seen each other over the long winter months -- and goodness, she looked pregnant. But only kind of, sort of.

I didn't want to bring it up, because the last conversation I could recall having with her was about their youngest child finally starting kindergarten and her being able to return to work, but my eyes couldn't stop assessing the situation: semi-pronounced midsection, loose-fitting shirt, and every so often the light touch of a hand to her belly.

I erred on the side of caution, deciding I wouldn't be the one to bring it up just in case, and vowed to take the watch-from-the-window-as-the-weeks-roll-by approach to see if an answer (her belly) became more obvious. Thankfully though, my neighbor finally mentioned something about "and when this one gets here..."

She hadn't realized how long it had been since we'd spoken, or that we hadn't heard the news. Without thinking, she assumed I knew and therefore almost didn't bother to bring it up.

The chat turned out just fine, but it did get me thinking about just how awkward pregnancy conversations can be. It's almost too bad there isn't a polite way to ask so that the news can be shared and the joy of a baby on the way celebrated.

Have you ever been in a similar situation (on either side)?
