Just days away from welcoming baby #3, Kristin Cavallari knows that life is about to get even busier.

Newborns can be "stressful," the former reality star admits. "I know I won’t get a lot of sleep initially, but it will be worth it."

Lack of sleep is definitely a concern, but so is juggling the needs of her sons Camden, 3, and Jaxon, 18 months. With a toddler and a preschooler in the house, Kristin, who is married to NFL player Jay Cutler, says she's no stranger to dealing with tantrums.

“Just an hour ago, you would have thought I had cut off one of Camden’s legs. He threw the biggest fit because I gave him chicken instead of turkey," she tells Parenting magazine. "He started crying, which made Jaxon cry."

I love this mom confession. I remember my daughter screeching at the top of her lungs one winter morning because I wouldn't let her go outside barefoot. And I specifically remember thinking, The neighbors are going to think someone getting murdered over here.

Fortunately, the storm passed, as they always do. The shoes were worn. The police weren't called.

So how does Kristin deal with these high pressure mommy moments?

"It would be easy to get frustrated and start yelling, but I find that what a kid really needs is a hug," she says. "I’ll say, ‘Buddy, what’s going on?’ That’s more effective than me scolding him or throwing him in a time-out.”

Another tip from the soon-to-be mom-of-three is to always be prepared: “Have a snack ready before your child gets hungry, and a sippy cup filled before he’s thirsty. It keeps crying to a minimum and makes the day so much less stressful.”

Great advice. It really is amazing how often a tantrum boils down to a kid being hungry or tired.

Kristin seems happy to dole out advice, but she's also quick to note that we shouldn't necessarily take it!

“You should accept advice. It’s helpful to listen to other moms’ experiences just for peace of mind," she says. "But ultimately no one knows what your baby needs better than you.”

Good luck to Kristin, we'll be waiting for the big baby news!
