posted in CelebritiesRyan Reynolds is a successful actor, a doting husband and, of course, former holder of the Sexiest Man Alive title. Unfortunately for his wife Blake Lively, though, he makes a "terrible" delivery room coach.
"I was there in the delivery room. I mean, I was there for the conception of the child, so I thought the least I could do is be there in the delivery room. I'm not going to lie to you... I saw things. But, amazing!" says Ryan, recalling the birth of daughter James last December. "I was just a terrible coach. There was a lot of clapping. I went for a couple of high fives, but she did not."
Blake, on the other hand, was an absolute champ.
"My wife is the real, I mean she is a mercenary," gushes the 38-year-old actor. "At one point in the middle of the delivery, the doctor's cell phone went off and she said, 'Oh, no. Go ahead, take a personal call. Feel free.' She was cracking jokes in the delivery room. She may have been on drugs, but I don't ask personal questions."
As for James (we're still waiting for a first glimpse of Blake and Ryan's no doubt adorable baby girl), Ryan says she already has a favorite parent - and it definitely isn't him.
"Right now she's starting to say 'mama.' There's an unfair advantage there. It turns out that breasts are actually a life support system and the child seems to gravitate towards the breasts. I'm just the breastless a--hole wandering around the room and getting in her sight line every once in a while," he jokes, adding, "All about mom. I am dead to her. That's her first words, ironically. 'You're dead to me.'"
Aw, poor dad! My daughter was the same way, crying and complaining whenever my husband tried to take her. It can be tough on the ego, but it passed pretty quickly. Now she's a bona fide Daddy's girl. Hang in there, Ryan - your time will come!
