So what's her anti-aging secret? Is it Botox? Radiofrequency therapy? Snake venom skin cream? (Yes, those are all real things.)
No, none of the above. The Bloodline star says the reason she looks so good is because she has no kids.
“I think it’s not having had a baby yet," Chloë tells W magazine. "Because I think the baby wear and tear and stress on your body is part of the reason why people say, ‘Why do you still look so young?’ I really think that that unfortunately ages women, especially when they have children in their 30s, not in their 20s. So I think, first and foremost, it’s that and genetics.”
Well, I guess that means I'm out of luck.
It's an interesting theory, but I'm not sure if I'm buying it. It's definitely tough to look "fresh-faced" when you have a new baby in the house and are getting only a few hours of sleep a night, and I'm sure the sometimes stressful moments of parenting can weigh on us.
That being said, the moms I see every day don't all look worn down and aged to me. I really don't think I could tell by looking at someone who has children and who doesn't. Genetics, though? That I can believe.
Besides, when pressed for the details of her skin care regime, Chloë reveals that she really does take good care of herself: She moisturizes, drinks a lot of water, limits caffeine and visits a "fancy dermatologist." Her vigilance continues well past bedtime, as she admits she's starting to factor in "pillow height" and is training herself to sleep on her back rather than her side to avoid lines and wrinkles.
I'll be the first to admit that I don't look quite the way I did 10 years ago, before I had kids. But my guess is that has more to do with the fact that I'm 10 years older than the fact that I have 2 children.
What do you think? Has having kids aged you?
Other celebrities talk about the decision not to have kids (though it's worth noting that one, Mad Men star Vincent Kartheiser, very recently had a change of heart!):
