Take a look at the mother of 5-month-old Josey, in a white, plunging gown:
Posting a similar photo to Instagram, Naya Rivera wrote, "Absolutely loved this @TadashiShoji look tonight for the @VanityFair young Hollywood party! Shout out to my son for the lopsided boobs. LOL #breastfeeding #momlife He is SO worth it."
In a blog post for People published in December the former Glee star opened up about the early days of her breastfeeding journey, writing:
Breastfeeding is like finding out that all of a sudden you can get bacon from your elbow.
Really, it’s a trip.
One minute there’s nothing going on with your perfectly perky boobs and the next a nurse is rolling yellow stuff out of your nipple and putting it in your baby’s mouth. Things like achieving a proper latch, combating engorgement, and practicing different holds soon became my sole priorities. Our bedroom became a haven for all things breast; breast pads, shields, pumps and creams.
At times I started to feel like I was only a tit to Josey and there was many a time I would walk in the door to a crying baby and immediately have to strip and feed.
She went on to add it "wasn’t all bad though, the bond between a mother and baby when you’re breastfeeding is incredible and something no one else shares with your baby."
Two months later it's apparent Naya is still committed to breastfeeding, and I have to say I'm impressed by the way she owned her lopsidedness loud and proud! How unusual to see a celebrity mom wear something so daring while knowing they aren't the typical picture of expected perfection.
I, too, remember being lopsided a few times while breastfeeding, but as best I can recall it was in the early days of nursing when my milk was first coming in. Specifically, I remember being freaked out by how rock-hard one breast was compared to the other, which my son had just fed from.
I can't say I remember being lopsided months into breastfeeding, but I imagine it's yet another one of those things where every person's body grows, shows and reacts differently.
