Iman's story of how she got pregnant is freaking me out

While it's safe to assume David Bowie played a role in getting Iman pregnant in 2000, the stunner actually credits another model mom for her pregnancy.

The 60-year-old beauty and the 68-year-old musician welcomed daughter Alexandria Zahra Jones into the world after eight years of marriage, thanks in part to Christie Brinkley and an African proverb.

Speaking at a Fashion Icons Q&A in New York, Iman explained, "We were at this shoot for American Vogue. Christie walked in. She had her baby. So, I said, 'There is an African proverb that says that if you carry another woman's child for a day, you'll get pregnant.' And she said, 'Here!' So, I say it took two blondes to get me pregnant: Christie and David. It is a miracle."

Iman first became a mother in 1978, welcoming daughter Zulekha Haywood with basketball player Spencer Haywood. Her and David Bowie's daughter arrived 22 years later (after going through unsuccessful IVF treatments) -- making Zulekha a big sister as an adult.

I've never been one to much believe in the idea pregnancy is contagious, but one of my sisters-in-law does. To this day she says holding my firstborn in the hospital is what got her pregnant with her daughter. Unbeknownst to the family at the time she and her partner had been trying for a baby, and sure enough my son and her daughter are just about nine months apart.

The thing that's freaking me out, however, is that my other sister-in-law is currently pregnant and I've been getting darn excited about the baby! Just yesterday I was mulling over how now that I'm not in the expecting and new baby trenches myself I'm feeling more in awe of pregnancy than ever. It's like I needed some distance from it to really appreciate how amazing it all is.

That being said, I'm now a tiny bit scared to hold my niece when she arrives. My husband had a vasectomy long ago, but every once in a while I still have dreams I'm pregnant with baby three. We're not interested in expanding our family, so I've got my fingers crossed that pregnancy mojo stays far away from me.
