Chrissy Tiegen: Stop asking this pregnancy question!

First comes love, then comes marriage... I think we all know how that antiquated rhyme ends, right?

It may be outdated, but it seems to still stick. So maybe it's no big surprise that newlyweds often find themselves fielding baby questions before the wedding flowers have even had a chance to wilt.

Celebrity couples aren't immune to these constant queries. If anything, they face more speculation than most thanks to the tabloid "bump watch" trend.

But model Chrissy Teigen has had enough. The 29-year-old, who wed singer John Legend in 2013, says that people should really think twice before asking others about their baby-making plans.

“I can’t imagine being that nosy, like, ‘When are the kids coming?’ because who knows what somebody’s going through, who knows if somebody’s struggling?” Chrissy says in a new interview. “I would say, honestly, [that] John and I were having trouble. We would have had kids five, six years ago if it had happened, but my gosh, it’s been a process.”

Her comments come on the heels of Tyra Banks' recent confession that she too has been wanting to have a baby for several years. The 41-year-old America's Next Top Model star revealed last week that her ongoing fertility struggles have been at times "traumatic."

I think Chrissy Teigen makes an excellent point, and her comments should serve as a reminder that we never really know what obstacles people are facing in their lives. "Hurry up and have a baby already" may seem to some like a light-hearted remark, but to someone who has wanted nothing but a baby for years that comment could be crushing.

“Once you open up about those things with other people, you start learning that a lot of people are seeing these people [fertility doctors], and they have this shame about it,” Chrissy says. “So anytime anybody asks me if I’m going to have kids, I’m just like, ‘One day, you’re going to ask that to the wrong girl who is really struggling and it’s going to be really hurtful to them, and I hate that. Stop asking me!’”

Well said. And point taken.
