posted in CelebritiesJenna Bush Hager is now officially the mom of two little girls! The Today correspondent, who grew up in the White House while her father, George W. Bush, held the office of President of the United States, has given birth for the second time.
In a statement released Friday the 33-year-old and husband Henry Hager announced Poppy Louise Hager was born in New York City at 9:12 a.m., weighing 7 lbs., 9 oz. and measuring 20.5 inches.
“We are thrilled to announce the birth of our darling daughter,” the couple, who welcomed a daughter named Mila two years ago, said in a statement.
The proud dad went on to say, "Jenna was fantastic throughout, and Mila can’t stop talking about her ‘baby sissy.’"
There's more to share about the story behind Jenna Bush Hager's baby name pick. Their statement explains:
"Poppy is named after Jenna’s grandfather, George Herbert Walker 'Poppy' Bush, a.k.a. Gampy. His nickname growing up was Poppy, and we are proud to name her after a man we so adore. Louise is in honor of our grandmothers’ middle names, Louise and Lewis. Mom and Poppy are healthy and well."
Isn't that sweet? I adore family names, and especially love to see a bit of creativity used.
My firstborn son's middle names is James, which serves as a double-dose of honor because both of his grandfathers happen to be named James, while our second son has my husband's first name as his middle name. I think we did pretty well, but I have to also share at this point that one of my niece's is named Claire -- after her uncle!
After reading about Poppy's name inspiration I get the feeling the Bush family would approve of that one.
Are your kids named after their family members? Any fun twists? Share with us in a comment below!
