Carrie Underwood pulls a total "mom move" with her hair

Carrie Underwood's beautiful locks are missing quite a few inches all of a sudden, and the reason for the chop isn't solely because she was tired of long tresses.

Opening up about her new look, the mother of 1-year-oold Isiah Fisher recently told Elle, "Now that my hair is shorter, it's easier to fix, which was the whole point. Cutting my hair was a 'mom' move."

"I wash my hair every day and I know that's not great for it, but I work out and I sweat a lot so I need to, and I'm on stage and I sweat even more," the singer continued. "I could spend half an hour to blow it dry and have it be super long, or I could spend that time playing with my son, and I'd much rather do the latter."

Carrie Underwood, whose son celebrated his first birth at the end of February, went on to share, "Things have just definitely gotten simpler [since baby Isaiah, 12 months, was born]. I blow out my hair with a round brush and I'm good. It's not complicated at all and I'm out the door still feeling good."

Despite being worth a reported net worth of $75 million, you might just bump into this famous mom shopping for makeup at the corner drugstore.

"Oh lordy, being a mom, half the time I'm like, 'Did I put moisturizer on? Did I do that today?' To be honest, whatever I can grab at a Walgreens is enough for me,” she explained. "I love drugstore makeup. I honestly don't think there's anything in my bag that's expensive."

Personally, I think Carrie's cut looks fantastic. I'm far from a style expert, but the change is chic, and I'm all for finding ways to simplify. Over the years I've noticed other celebrity moms do similar post-baby chops in the name of spending less time getting ready. I believe Halle Berry went short after welcoming Nahla, and I recall Alicia Keys did the same as a first-time mom.

A year or so ago I got sick of my "mom hair" (medium-length, no style per se, often in a sloppy ponytail) and cut it all off. It was shocking to have truly short hair for the first time in my life, but also freeing. These days I get my hair cut by a barber, and spend no more than 5 minutes a day fixing it. I have no idea if it's a good look on me...but I think I prefer being a little different, even if it's not the most complimentary, to trying nothing at all.

What's your hair look like on an average day? Why is that?
