posted in CelebritiesHayden Panettiere just recently opened up about being able to relate to the topic of postpartum depression, but it seems her experience may be more serious than she first let on.
On Tuesday, TMZ reported they have confirmed the first-time mother has checked into a treatment facility to seek help. The Nashville star and fiancé Wladimir Klitschko welcomed their first child, a daughter named Kaya Evdokia in December 2014. Ironically, her television show character's current storyline revolves around struggling with PPD.
Hayden Panettiere spoke about PPD just weeks ago, sharing she can "very much relate" to her character's struggles.
"It’s something a lot of women experience,” the 26-year-old said during an appearance on Live! with Kelly and Michael.
"When [you’re told] about postpartum depression you think it’s ‘I feel negative feelings towards my child, I want to injure or hurt my child’ — I’ve never, ever had those feelings. Some women do. But you don’t realize how broad of a spectrum you can really experience that on. It’s something that needs to be talked about. Women need to know that they’re not alone, and that it does heal."
I wondered, at the time of this interview, if there was more to Hayden's story. Naturally, I hoped her experience with postpartum depression wasn't too deep, but now it seems we know this young mom has been having quite a hard time. It's really not surprising she glossed over the depth of the issue during the interview, don't you think? I can't imagine being still in the midst of a tough time and talking about it during a morning chat show.
Here's hoping Hayden is able to receive the help she needs and feel better soon.
