Just months after his band mate Ronnie Wood, 68, welcomed twins, The Sun is reporting that Mick Jagger is expecting a baby with his girlfriend, 29-year-old ballerina Melanie Hamrick.
The baby would be the 8th for the 72-year-old rocker, but the first for Melanie. Mick's other children range in age from 17 to 45 years old. The family tree doesn't stop there: He also has five grandkids and one great grandchild!
It may not be the most conventional family, but Mick's daughter Jade says it works: "I think we are actually remarkably functional... I think it's a high priority for my dad, keeping his quite large family together... They're getting bigger and bigger. Each generation keeps coming up."
A baby at 72 years old? That sounds utterly exhausting. Fortunately, Mick seems to still have a ton of energy - and more than enough money to hire a night nanny or two if need be.
I'm still a ways from 72, but with my 40th birthday right around the corner I find myself thinking for the first time that it won't be much longer before the door officially closes on my own baby days.
I'm blessed and very happy worth the two children I already have, but the thought does give me pause. The clock ticks a little differently for moms than it does for dads!
