Can we show Selma Blair some support after her outburst?

I have never met, spoken to or probably even been within six degrees of Kevin Bacon of Selma Blair -- and yet I've always felt a tiny skosh endeared to her.

Maybe it's because she didn't lose a single postpartum pound for a long time, or maybe it's because she was candid about losing her hair. I'm not sure. I've just always liked what she's had to say, from becoming a single mom to finding beauty in holing up in home.

That's why I'm saddened and feeling like calling for support as word breaks she may be having a hard time.

Word broke Monday evening Selma Blair has reportedly been removed from a plane on stretcher following a mid-flight outburst while traveling with her 4-year-old son Arthur Saint Bleick.

"She was met by paramedics at LAX as soon as her plane arrived," a source described as close to the situation has told People. "It looks like she had taken a combination of prescription medication with alcohol. We don't know what sort of prescription medications."

The actress and her son were returning from Mexico after a Father's Day celebration with her ex-husband. Selma reportedly was seated in first class with her son, and after a glass of wine "she started to cry and talk about fears regarding an unnamed male."

"He burns my private parts. He won't let me eat or drink," she is quoted as having stated. "He beats me. He's going to kill me."

It's heartbreaking to hear, and I can only hope at this point it was an error in mixing medication with alcohol that brought those words out and not that those are real instances this 43-year-old has been through. Sweet goodness, no one ever should have to utter those words.

As these reports makes the headlines I can't help but wonder whether or not this will eventually be spun into a "celeb breakdown" story a la Britney Spears circa 2007. It really wasn't all that long ago, if you do the math, but I've got my fingers crossed we've come a long way in compassion for one another's struggles in that short time. It's dang hard to adult sometimes on any given day, let alone be an adult responsible for raising little ones.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that mental issues, substance abuse and/or addiction in any intensity don't take a break when you become a mom, and I very rarely see mention of that on the blogs. We talk postpartum depression, and occasionally prenatal, but rarely the rest of mental health.

I, of course, have no insider information on what's going on with Selma, but gosh darn it, I care a little bit. I care because she's a fellow mom, and I care because she's fellow human.

The stress of this thing we call life can be big, and I understand the temptation to escape from its daunting size sometimes. I suppose that's why there's so many mom memes about wine and whatnot, but I personally rarely find them funny.

As I said above, I have no idea what's really going on with this celebrity mom, but I'd love to see a few words of encouragement sent her way. She'll probably never see them, but maybe someone else sharing her shoes will.

If Selma Blair were your personal friend, what would you say to her in light of today's news?
