It's safe to say Jessica Simpson is in the trenches of motherhood with 3-year-old daughter Maxwell and 2-year-old son Ace to care for. The singer, who wed Eric Johnson in the summer of 2014, has opened up to fellow parent Jimmy Fallon about potty training, high-tech tots and more.

"They look like their daddy! They're too much," Jessica told the host of The Tonight Show while boasting about her son and daughter during a recent appearance. "They're the best."

On the subject of her kids being so close in age the singer laughed and said, "I did it really quick and sudden. It was very shocking. Now that they're 2 and 3, it's unbelievable."

Giving the father of Winnie and Frances a word of warning Jessica advised, "You can guard your phone. They're better at technology than I am—not that I'm ever good at it, but they take over people's phones and somehow find the pictures not to post."

A peek at Jessica Simpson's visit to The Tonight Show, during which she discusses her daughter Maxwell's daredevil way:

Did you catch that bit about potty training? When Jimmy Fallon asked what he has to look forward to as a parent of little ones Jessica Simpson replied, "Pooping in the grass and not a diaper. Just popping a squat."

I'd prefer to think she's joking, but odds are she's probably not. I've heard one too many tales of kids who struggle with going poop on the potty (even after mastering peeing) to assume this isn't a true story.

As a matter of fact, I recall a debate going on some years ago about a mother whose son would only use the "bathroom" outside. Some sympathized with having a child who refused to use a toilet, but many thought allowing a child to routinely pee and poop outdoors was ludicrous.

It never really occurred to my own two boys to hate or fear the toilet. Potty training was anything but a breeze, but I'm thankful they were at least making their best effort to relieve themselves in the proper place. More than once they didn't make it (there's nothing like discovering a turd right in the middle of your kitchen floor to dampen the appetite), but eventually it all worked out.
