Opening up about being mom to 7-year-old Harlow and 5-year-old Sparrow, the star recently shared, "Because I have kids, I [carry] a whole emergency kit. I have Band-Aids, Wet Ones, Aquaphor, and cranberry almond Kind bars.''
The wife of Good Charlotte singer Joel Madden added, "My kids look at my bag as their own, which drives me insane! My son hides Legos in there, and sometimes I'll find a sock.''
When asked if there will be another little one joining the family someday down the road, Nicole Richie told E! News, "I am not planning on any more, but you never know. I don’t wanna say I don’t want them and then they come and I feel bad.”
For the most part, my purse is my own these days. With kids ages 10 and 9, who are away at school most days of the year, I try and keep things to the bare minimum: wallet, keys, a pen and chapstick. I'm never without the chapstick. But in the summer months old habits start to creep in.
At this very moment I'm toting around two pairs of kid socks (wearing sandals and no socks to the roller skating rink just won't do), granola bars (if you think toddlers are bad about getting 'hangry' wait until they're tweens), nearly-overdue library books and a water bottle. The water bottle that is mine, but somehow becomes community property as soon as we leave the house.
It's funny, my Grandma once commented on my carrying snacks and water all about during one of her visits, saying something to the effect of, "Why can't they just wait?" I hadn't really thought about it, as silly as that sounds. I think in her mothering years kids just had to be patient, but for us trying to always be prepared is the norm.
