Would you track your tween or teen with a phone app?

Debi Mazar has no qualms about telling the world she's using technology to keep track of her tween. The actress, who is mom to 12-year-old Evelina and 9-year-old Giulia, has opened up to People about navigating the early teenage years.

"I have to say it’s a difficult moment because no one gives you the book," the 50-year-old Younger star shared recently. She went on to say of their home life, "I have dinner with my daughter every night, and I’ve been giving her a really hard time and asking a lot of questions. It’s a very odd transition for me, but we’re going through it gracefully."

Sharing how she's taking advantage of modern tools to keep tabs on her tween, Debi Mazar went on to say, "I have an app called Find My Friends so I can track her and know where she is at all times."

"Both of my daughters are great kids and they’re respectful, they know that they need to be safe, and they know how to be fierce," she added.

Now I'm not exactly proud say this, but I totally will use a tracking app when my kids get phones. In theory it would be great to have enough trust in our kids to be able to take their word for where they'll be, but the reality is kids –- even good kids -- have been making stupid decisions for eons.

Maybe it's a little sad that skipping school (a tradition I totally did not take part in) and occasionally stealing a slice of freedom is more likely to become a thing of the past, but that's just the luck of the draw for what era our kids are growing up in. We didn't have Google, text messages, cell phones or a gazillion selfies. Heck, we had to buy film and then pay for it to get developed just to get a picture with our friends. There are perks to being a kid in today's day and age and a few drawbacks, that's just the way the after-school cookies crumble.
